A new compilation of recently recorded tracks celebrating the best of the current crop of musicians and singers living and working in the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
Featuring the dazzling fiddle playing of Charlie MacKerron (Capercaillie) and Duncan Chisholm (Wolfstone), with more fine instrumental playing from Iain MacDonald (Battlefield Band, Ossian) and Iain MacFarlane (Blazin' Fiddles, Boys of the Lough).
With the irresistible West Highland dance music of Skipinnish, Hoogie, Dàimh, Meantime, and The Black Rose Ceilidh Band (Scottish Dance Band of the Year).
There is song from Mary Ann Kennedy (Mod Gold Medallist, Saltire Award winner), and Anne Martin and Ingrid Henderson (Radio 2 Young Musician of the Year), as well as the beautiful voice of Mod Gold Medallist Arthur Cormack. These singers also feature in the Gaelic group Cliar (Scottish Trad Music Awards - Best Album).
There is also a strong showing from the new generation of Highland musicians, led by Dòchas (Nominated Best Newcomers - Scottish Trad Music Awards), Blialam (Plockton School of Excellence in Traditional Music) and students from Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye.
All in all a well-rounded collection of quality Scottish music. More recordings from all of these artists are available at MusicScotland.
