In the 1960s Roy Williamson of the Corries made a twenty-eight string guitar, and in the late 60s to early 70s he made two combolins - multi-stringed instruments with more than one fingerboard. These were repaired and maintained by guitar player/restorer David Sinton, himself a talented musician. Bequeathing these instruments to David at his death, Roy has ensured their survival and continued playing.

This album of well-loved Celtic folk tunes, two years in the making, features the combolins in combination with flute, concertina, and Northumbrian pipes, a blend Roy himself had often discussed. Corries' tunes, folk tunes and Celtic tunes - a reflective, warm instrumental album of gently familiar Scottish music of great appeal played and produced to the highest standard.

Caledonian Sunset allows the sound of the combolins to again ring throughout the world of Scottish traditional music.
