Number 1 in the MusicScotland top sellers of the year 2001.
Number 7 in the Greentrax Recordings top sellers of the year 2001.

(February 2001) 14 tracks: Gude Claret / Wee Hieland Laddie; Prince Charlie’s March / Joy Gae Wi' My Love / Ho Ho Chaileagan; Braes o’ Gleniffer; MacGregor of Ruara / The King’s House; Bogie’s Bonnie Belle; The Back of The Change House / Miss Girdle / The Bristly Beard / Barney’s Balmoral; Woo’d and Married and A’; Loch Etive Side / South Uist Golf Glub / The Country Girl and The Hungarian Fiddler / Mrs Willie Wassle; Dusty Miller / Wee Willie Gray; Duncan McNeill’s Farewell to Melfort; Boc Liath Nan Gobhar (The Grey Duck) / The Rock And The Wee Pickle Tow; Johnny Sangster; The Unreel / Les Trois Grande Luthiers; Donal Don / Piper’s Cave.

The reputation of Jack Tamson’s Bairns is so well established in Scotland and beyond that comment is almost superfluous! The band is made up of two outstanding singers in Rod Paterson (also guitar, trump) and John Croall (also bodhran, bones, whistles) along with Ian Hardie (fiddle, vocals), Derek Hoy (fiddles) and Norman Chalmers (concertinas, melodeon, moothie and whistles).

The Bairns have a very strong Scottish identity and perform mainly Scottish traditional songs and tunes, all with character and enjoyment - a few more recent compositions are also included. Highly regarded by all Scottish traditional musicians.
