(May 2006) 11 tracks: The Cullybacky Hop * Leckan Mor * Absent Friends * Loophead * Midnight In Aviles * The Dingle Berries * Black River * Road To Barga * Two Of A Kind * Glentrasna * Boy In The Boat.

A studio album from the top Irish instrumental music group, to follow their previous live recording The Kinnitty Sessions.

From day one, Lunasa has had a refreshingly edgy sound all of their own - one that incorporates the haunting modality of traditional Irish music with a jazz-like fluidity and the unrelenting drive of the most well-oiled bluegrass bands. Sé (Irish Gaelic for Six) is the hard-won, hand-hewn next step in Lúnasa’s unending evolution.

By pinning traditional elements of composition and instrumentation to a fluid rhythmic undercurrent, Lúnasa have achieved a new pinnacle of urgency and intricacy - sparking off unprecedented acclaim and notoriety in the process.

Lunasa are Sean Smyth (fiddle), Kevin Crawford (flute), Cillian Vallely (uilleann pipes) and Trevor Hutchinson (double bass). With Tim Edey and Paul Meehan (guitars).

"Nobody since the Bothies has wielded such a thrilling rhythmic underlay... maintains a breathtaking pace and energy" (MOJO)

"Ireland's new all-star quartet... Lunasa manages to marry jazz-rock bass lines and an expanded harmonic sensibility to an older, rural music... determined to drag Irish folk music kicking and screaming into the 21st century." (The Washington Post)

"Not since the debut of Solas has an Irish traditional band been as lavishly praised as has Lunasa since its 1997 eponymous debut... Lunasa brings the world of traditional Irish music some sweet fruits indeed." (The Boston Herald)
