One of Celtic music's great concertina players. Since his days in the Cork-based band Nomos, Niall has established himself as one of the most original and distinctive voices in Irish music, confirmed here on this infectious recording.

Niall is accompanied by his brother Caoimhin (ex-North Cregg) on piano, Paul Meehan (bouzouki), and Brian Morrissey (bodhran). Between them they create a contemporary, bright and swinging sound, with almost all the tune sets written by Niall.

Niall began learning the concertina at the age of seven, taught by his parents Brian and Eithne Vallely, founders of the Armagh Pipers' Club, and over the years he has developed a unique approach to playing the instrument. A resident of Cork since 1988, Niall completed a degree in music at UCC, and as a student was involved in various musical projects with composer and pianist Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin.

Niall was featured on the highly acclaimed BBC/RTE television series A River Of Sound. In 1990 he formed Nomos, who went on to become internationally recognised as one of the most important Irish bands of recent times.
