Jim Hunter is one of the Scotland's top singer/songwriters, as well as being an outstanding guitar and slide-guitar master. Less comfortable in the position of a Scottish folksinger, he prefers to create musical bridges between influences from his home country and American heroes like Lowell George (Little Feat) or Tony Joe White, as well as crossing over to Ireland, with other influences including Chris Rea.

Old Dogs For The Hard Road covers his folky roots, as well as his excellent guitar work, on a mostly acoustic album. Recorded simply and directly with only a handful of accompanying artists, including multi-instrumentalist Brian MacAlpine (piano, keyboards, accordion, bass, vocals), Jim Michie (guitar, vocals) and Nick Turner (bass, guitar).

The songs are mostly self-penned, with tributes to American songwriters along the way. An album to satisfy his long-time fans and bring a lot of new ones too.
