Pete Clark is not only quite a nifty artist, and a superb fiddler, but also - as this album attests - an excellent composer too.

Pete plays here with the Niel Gow Ensemble, presenting their own arrangements of some old Scottish tunes, and some of Pete’s own pieces, endowing them with an orchestral quality rather than a folky one. Yet the music is still quintessentially Scottish - old tunes, recent compositions, a song of the pearl fishing, and a short suite dedicated to Pete’s local giant, The Birnam Oak.
