Winners of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award competition of 2006, this is the young Scottish band Bodega's second album - a mix of instrumentals and songs in both Gaelic and Scots.

Bodega are Gillian Chalmers from Fraserburgh (pipes, whistle, fiddle), Ross Couper from Shetland (fiddle), Tia Files from Oban (guitar, bass guitar, percussion), Norrie MacIver from the Isle of Lewis (lead vocals, accordion, guitar) and June Naylor from the Isle of Skye (clarsach).

Bodega met while they were attending The National Centre of Excellence for Traditional Music at Plockton in Ross-shire. Late in 2005 they won the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award and in 2006 Geentrax released their debut album, titled Bodega (CDTRAX295).

Under The Counter was recorded at Quayside Studios, Newcastle, by Julien Batten, under the guiding hand of Andrew Gifford (of Fiddlers’ Bid fame) and was mastered by Paul McGeechan.

Various reviewers have described the band as:

"Fiendishly gifted... Supremely gifted quintet... Clever and skilful... One of the most exciting bands to hit the scene in a long time... Best traditional band since Silly Wizard..."

Their first album was described as:

"Awesome... Superbly played and arranged... Musicianship excellent... Compelling and exciting... With its own unique, tantalising and personalised sound."

"You want to listen to it again and again... Something to be savoured." (Eric Allan)
