GiveWay are four young sisters - Fiona Johnson (fiddle, guitar, vocals), Kirsty (piano accordion, two-row button box, lead vocals), Mairi (keyboards, piano, vocals) and Amy (drum kit, percussion, vocals).

They play a heady mixture of Scottish traditional music, from haunting airs to lively jigs and energetic reels, with the occasional song as well. This talented group won a Danny Award at Celtic Connections in 2001, and followed this up by winning the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.

Appearances at Celtic Connections, Cambridge Folk Festival, Tonder Festival (Denmark) and Celtic Colours (Cape Breton) followed and, in between, the band were also invited to take part in the BBC Hogmanay Live television show, sharing the stage with a host of big-time artists including pals Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain.

Their music has matured and expanded since recording their first album Full Steam Ahead. Both Fiona and Kirsty are now studying at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, while Mairi and Amy continue their school studies.

Produced by Phil Cunningham.

"Bursting with evidence of virtuosity, flair and disarming maturity" (The Daily Telegraph)
