Combining the talents of Iain MacDonald (ex-Battlefield Band, Ossian) and Iain MacFarlane (Blazin' Fiddles) on fiddle, bagpipes, whistle and flute, First Harvest provides first class music which is a must for any Scottish traditional music collection.

Guest artists on the album include Ingrid Henderson, Ross Martin, Ewan Vernal, Phil Cunningham, Kathleen MacInnes, Allan Henderson and James MacKintosh.

Iain MacDonald, the youngest brother of the famous piping family from Glenuig, has been steeped in the Gaelic tradition throughout his life. Now based in Benbecula, he combines a busy performance schedule with tutoring at the new traditional Gaelic music course at Colaisde Beinn nam Foghla, and is the Musician in Residence at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. He has toured extensively with The Battlefield Band and Ossian. More recently, Iain has produced albums for Blazin' Fiddles, Daimh, Anne Martin and Dochas.

Iain MacFarlane was born and brought up in Glenfinnan and was taught by his father, Charlie, and also the late Donald Riddell. He has a BA in Traditional Music from the RSAMD, currently plays with Blazin' Fiddles and teaches regularly at the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music at Plockton High School. He is an internationally acclaimed player and teacher in the traditional music world.
