A collaborative album from poet, author and playwright Liz Lochhead with Dundee based band The Hazey Janes and saxophonist Steve Kettley.

In the dark days of December 2015, shortly before being awarded the Queen's Medal for Poetry, Scotland's Makar Liz Lochhead recorded this album with Dundee based band The Hazey Janes and saxophonist Steve Kettley.

The project commissioned by An Tobar, The Tobermory Arts Centre, grew from her long friendship with the late, great Michael Marra - his son and daughter play with the Hazey Janes.

That natural bridge, and the poem "The Optimistic Sound" written by Liz on the day of Michael's funeral, led to this collaboration.

For many years Michael Marra and Liz Lochhead performed their duo show In Flagrant Delicht around the world.

Produced by Gordon Maclean, Tobermory.

Liz Lochhead (words), Steve Kettley (tenor and soprano saxophone), Andrew Mitchell (piano, guitar, pump organ, synthesizer, vibrophone, vocals), Alice Marra (vocals), Matthew Marra (electric and upright bass), Liam Brennan (drums, vocals).
