Based in her adopted homeland of Scotland, Irish traditional singer and flautist Nuala Kennedy performs a range of material from across the Irish and Scottish traditional music repertoires.

Nuala, although rooted in the Celtic music of her native Ireland and adopted homeland of Scotland, is increasingly recognized for her eclectic cross-genre work. She composes her own idiosyncratic brand of traditional music and tours in a variety of lineups from duo and quartet to a nine-piece festival band. Her debut solo album The New Shoes was voted Traditional Album Of The Week (The Irish Times), and Traditional Highlight Of 2008 (Hotpress).

In 2009, in collaboration with French guitarist Philippe Guidat and the Scottish Arts Council, Nuala toured a successful new World Music project entitled Voyage De Nuit, showcasing songs and compositions inspired by flamenco, jazz and traditional music. Later that year, she also toured Ireland with MISLAID, a collaboration with Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Euros Childs (Gorky's Zygotic Mynci) and Irish fiddler Caoimhin O' Raghaillaigh.

She has also recently performed and recorded with American hipster and indie-poet Will Oldham, Scotland's Norman Blake and cutting-edge Canadian composer Oliver Schroer, with whom she recorded Enthralled, a duo album of entirely original compositions.

Nuala Kennedy (vocals, flute, whistle) with Bonnie Prince Billy (vocals), Norman Blake (vocals), Oliver Schroer (fiddle), Mario Caribe (bass), Jilian Sutton (accordion), Donald Hay (percussion), Mike Galvin (guitar), Phillipe Guidat (guitar), Alasdair White (fiddle), Iain MacLeod (mandolin), Luke Daniels (accordion), Ryan Quigley (flugelhorn, trumpet), Brian Kellock (piano), Nicolas Boulerice (hurdy gurdy), Les Kirstein (cello), Sua Lee (cello), Bryan Shields (viola) and Robert McFall (violin).

" 'Tune in', according to Timothy Leary, meant interacting harmoniously with the world around you - externalize, materialize, express your new internal perspectives. I can identify with that. When I play music on stage or informally with friends old and new, I feel that. When it's really working, we tune in to each other. I don't know if it is about taking a risk together, or communicating on a deeper, emotional level, or just doing what feels and sounds good in a certain moment, but it's what I most love about playing music." (Nuala Kennedy)
