First solo album from the singer and harpist with The Shee and Emily Portman Trio. The album is comprised of mainly traditional songs in both English and Gaelic and also of Rachel’s own instrumental compositions.

Rachel showcases both the acoustic and the electric harps in her own unique way. She plays fiddle and harmonium to add to the song accompaniment.

Rachel Newton (vocals, harp, electroharp, fiddle, harmonium), Kris Drever (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Mattie Foulds (percussion).

fRoots Magazine has selected The Shadow Side as one of their Playlist top ten albums in the current issue (Aug/Sep 2012).

"Rachel performs with an effortless allure that speaks to your innermost senses." Mike Wilson, Folking.com.
