The Gaelic vocal trio of Janet Tandy, Joanie Mackenzie and David Williamson. This group, called The Sound of Mull, was formed in 1971 to compete at the Mull Local Mod in Tobermory.

They went on to win the Folk Group Competition at the National Mòd in Dundee in 1974, and subsequently released two LPs on the Lismor label.

"...you will welcome the soft, sweet vocal style of The Sound of Mull, the name of a talented young trio from Tobermory. Janet Tandy, Joanie MacKenzie and David Williamson present a dozen Gaelic songs in a gentle, harmonious way, mostly in their own clever arrangements. Listen to but two tracks - the superbly beautiful Leanabh an àigh (Child in a manger) and Chi mi Muile (I see Mull) - and, like me, you will become enchanted * ‘tis the only word to use. This is a totally refreshing and new sound, with two solo spots adding to the captivation * if you have any love for the Gaelic language and its long culture in music and song, then this delightful record is simply essential to you." (Wemyess Craigie, Scotland’s Magazine, November 1975)
