Nearly three decades ago, The Tannahill Weavers introduced the world to the power and passion rooted in their native Scottish music. As legions of fans witness year after year, the band's potent mixture of traditional ballads and fiery instrumentals leaves their audiences spellbound - The Tannies have made numerous appearances on National Public Radio's A Prairie Home Companion. As the title suggests, Alchemy features some adventurous experiments: the band has set an 18th century Scottish poem to new music, and transformed an Asturian melody into a Scottish air with new lyrics. The band's signature combination of Highland bagpipes, guitar-driven rhythms, fiddle, flute and bouzouki has never sounded better!

"these guys are a bunch of heroes every time they go on tour!" (Garrison Keillor)
