The songs are sung here by A L Lloyd, whose wide experience of life helped him keep the songs in context, as songs of the folk.

Lloyd recorded these songs in 1960, with Alf Edwards accompanying some tracks on English concertina. The lyrics are from the Penguin Book Of English Folk Songs.

Excellent recording quality, informative sleeve notes, and Lloyd’s tuneful but not too cultured voice make this a disc to treasure.
