Andy Stewart was determined to get into show business, and started performing in theatre in his teens. His big break came when he replaced a sick Harry Gordon in a production of Dick Whittington's Cat. He went on to host the White Heather Club and his own TV series The Andy Stewart show.

His comedy song Donald Where's Yer Troosers? Won him wide recognition in Britain and the USA, but it was his moving Scottish Soldier that stayed in the national charts for nearly a year.

Andy Stewart was awarded an MBE in 1976. A re-worked Donald Where's Yer Troosers? Hit number 5 in the UK charts at Christmas 1989. He died in 1993.
