The Dysart and Dundonald Pipe Band have a long and proud history, going back to 1929 when the band was known as Dundonald Juvenile Band, under Pipe Major Bob MacKay. After a period as the Dundonald Colliery Pipe Band the name changed finally to The Dysart and Dundonald Pipe Band.

Under the leadership of Pipe Major Robert Shepherd, success followed as the band moved up the grades, finally achieving Grade 1 status in 1973. Titles won by the band include World Champions (twice) * Cowal Champions (four times) * British Champions (three times) * Scottish Champions (seven times) * European Champions (twice) * and Supreme Champions (three times).

Brian Lamond joined the band in 1999, after periods with The Polkemmet and Vale of Atholl Pipe Bands. He was a member of The Victoria Police Pipe Band when they won The World Pipe Band Championships in 1998. The current lineup of Dysart and Dundonald also includes Pipe Sergeant John Elliott and Leading Drummer Brian Purves.
