From the jam-packed dance halls of the cities to the overcrowded village halls of the West, generations have grown up dancing to Fergie's music.

His popularity as a jaunty ceilidh dance musician stretches way back to the 1960s, when he recorded four LPs and reached No 1 in the Scottish charts with Loch Maree Islands. Here is a selection from those early albums.
