Fionnar - Sgoil Roc

A contemporary backing for three Gaelic songs - eight young lassies from around the Highlands, with hopes of becoming the next Capercaillie or Runrig.

Sgoil Roc teamed the teenage Gaelic vocal harmony group Fionnar with professional Gaelic writers and musicians who guided them through the creative process as they wrote their own contemporary Gaelic songs.

The group were then taken through the entire professional recording process - learning studio techniques, graphics, working with backing tracks, distribution and marketing. The resulting CD of three new songs was launched with a live performance at the Nòs Òg concert at Eden Court.

The project aims to boost confidence amongst Gaelic-speaking teenagers, and to demonstrate to them that they can produce a quality product in Gaelic which has a wide appeal amongst their peer group.
