Salsa Celtica formed in 1996 from a group of Celtic and Latino musicians who fused South American and Cuban song, salsa rhythms, improvisation, Scottish reels and ceilidh tunes to create a Caledonian Caribbean Salsa Paradise.

The fusion has established the band as one of the major draws on the European Latin and World music festival scene, and they are building a growing reputation in North America as well - the band played to several thousand New Yorkers at the Lincoln Centre, as well as the major Canadian jazz festivals in 2001. A ten-piece (or more!) big band with a huge sound.

Galo Ceron (guitar), Fraser Fifield (bagpipes, whistles, saxophones), Toby Shippey (trumpet), Steve Kettley (saxophones, flute, jaws harp), Guy Nicolson (timbales), Jenny Gardner (fiddle), David Donnelly (bass), Dougie Hudson (congas) and David Robertson (bongos) with Andy Thorburn (accordion), Lino Rocha (vocals), Carlos Pena (vocals) and others.

"A stunning marriage of musical styles... Virtuosos to a man" (The Scotsman)

"in the Latin scene along with Manau Chau, Salsa Celtica were without doubt the most exciting and freshest thing to hit New York this summer" (Listin Diario, USA / Dominican Republic)
