Description

(June 2001) 14 tracks: The Highlanders Revenge, Cambridge Caravan Catastrophe, Liza Mulholland, Sir Henri Laphroig Dinoir Of Cluthiebootle, Grindaboo, Cajan Chaz, 101 Reasons, Cianalach, The Promotion Jig, The Miser, Peggy Mulholland, Bill and Sandy, Falls Of Lora, Cropey's Lament For King George V.

A solo album by Bruce MacGregor, fiddler with Cliar and Blazin' Fiddles. A mixture of recent compositions and those of Bruce's late fiddle teacher, Donald Riddell.

For Bruce, the essence of Scottish fiddle music lies in its ability to retain its heart and soul, whilst displaying diversity and a sense of adventure that, when brought together, make it truly unique in terms of traditional music. This recording displays those characteristics.

Bruce is joined by Phil Cunningham (accordion, piano, whistle), Jonnie Hardie (guitar, fiddle), Ingrid Henderson (piano, harp), Arthur Cormack (vocals), Kris Drever (bass), Christine Hanson (cello), Marc Clement (guitar), Paul Jennings (percussion), Liza Mulholland (piano), Finlay MacDonald (bagpipes), Chaz Stewart (electric guitar), Mary Ann Kennedy (vocals) and Maggie MacDonald (vocals).

"This is not just good, this is superb. This knocks any other contemporary fiddle album into a cocked hat for vibrancy, delicacy and power." (The Shetland Times)
