Eric was born in Scotland in 1944, and in 1969 he emigrated to Australia where he still lives. He has been writing songs and poems since he was eight years old - possibly his most recognizable and popular song is And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda which to date has been recorded by over 100 artists.

Another of his songs, The Green Fields of France (No Man's Land / Willie McBride), was recorded by The Furey Brothers and spent an incredible 26 weeks in the Irish charts, including 10 weeks at No 1.

Eric regularly tours the US, Canada and Europe, as well as his adopted Australia. Over the past 20 years or so he has recorded a total of 14 albums and has been the recipient of many awards for his music, including a UN Peace Medal and The Order of Australia from the Australian Government.
