Mairi's first album, Causeway was produced by Phil Cunningham and recorded at REL Studios in Edinburgh. It was well received by the critics.

Runrig followers will enjoy Clachan Uaine, a song written by Calum and Rory MacDonald but never recorded by the band. This track, translated as The Green Village, is about North Uist. Mairead Og (Young Margaret), Mendocino and Indiana are other notable tracks from the album.
