A superb debut album from Nicola Auchnie, Glenfiddich fiddle champion and University of Aberdeen Music graduate.

Top class fiddle playing of well-known tunes from the seventeenth century through to more recent compositions.

Nicola comes from a farming family near Turriff, Aberdeenshire, she began violin at age eight. Whilst at school she completed her classical violin exams.

She became interested in playing Scottish Traditional music and joined the Garioch Fiddlers in Inverurie.

Nicola has competed in many fiddle festivals throughout Scotland and enjoyed much success.

She has won the prestigious Glenfiddich Fiddle Championships at Blair Castle and Oban Fiddle Masters invitational competition twice.

The title of this album, Bennachie, is a recognisable hill range west of Inverurie in Aberdeenshire. Its best known peak the Mither Tap is a landmark which can be seen for miles around.
