A number of Orkney's finest musicians, spanning several generations, feature on Orkney Folk Festival: Fiddle Gathering.

The fiddle has been at the heart of traditional music in Orkney for centuries. It is therefore fitting that the second live album in the Gathering Series is dedicated to the fiddke and its music.

Recorded live in at the 2015 festival, the record features some 20 musicians under the direction of Douglas Montgomery, brought together to celebrate the isles’ rich fiddle tradition, in one memorable performance in the Stromness Town Hall.

The Fiddle Gathering is the fifth incarnation of the Gathering project. Established in 2011 it's an ever- evolving initiative whch aims to bring together generations of Orcadian performers in a celebration of the Islands' musical heritage.

The proceeds of this second album in the Gathering Series will help bring Orkney's music to wider audiences in years to come, through the support of future Gathering events.
