The Hut People are Sam Pirt (accordions) and Gary Hammond (percussion).

This is an unusual and refreshingly different pairing combining folk and world sounds, and reaction to the duo has been extremely encouraging.

Sam has a wealth of experience in the folk world - he has been going to and playing at folk festivals before he could walk! In 1999 he won a BBC Young Folk Award with the band 422.

Gary's musical journey began in the jazz world and moved very slowly into the world music sphere - on the way he took a detour and entered the pop world with The Beautiful South, which lasted twelve years. This brought him to Hull where he had the good fortune to meet Sam. They got together and what you hear live and on the CD came out of these jam sessions.

Sam and Gary have discovered a whole new world of folk music, combining folk and world sounds. From Sussex to the Shetland Islands, on to Scandinavia, with fleeting visits to Louisiana and Brazil.
