A L 'Bert' Lloyd, along with his contemporary, Ewan MacColl, was one of the architects of the folk revival in the 1950s and 60s.

He was a mentor to artists including The Watersons, Martin Carthy, Anne Briggs, Louis Killen, Frankie Armstrong and Peter Bellamy. He was also artistic director of Topic Records.

Essentially, Bert was a great communicator and (despite a considerable discography) this is the first live recording to be issued and contains a mix of his English and Australian folk songs, as well as some stories.

With this collection you also get Bert introducing songs - never lecturing, despite his vast knowledge, simply informed and witty.

An interesting insight to a remarkable man.
