A string quartet with bagpipes? Yes, but not as we know them. The sweet-sounding Border pipes are the ‘other’ traditional pipes of both Scotland and Northumberland. Matt Seattle is one of their leading players, and Mr McFall’s String Quartet are musical adventurers from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Together they make music that is sometimes earthy, sometimes ethereal, and always beautiful.

Featuring Matt Seattle (Border pipes), Greg Lawson (violin), Robert McFall (violin), Rebecca Wexler (viola) and Su-a Lee (cello).

"It really does seem, when one hears his playing, that the two loose ends of a piping tradition have been picked up and tied together again so that they are an unbroken thread once more." (William Marshall, Bagpipe Society)
